Seagate offers Singapore early-stage startups free cloud storage
Launched in April and available globally for the first time in April, the Singapore online provider TeleFone today announced that Singaporean early stage startups are now starting to offer free cloud storage for Singapore early stage startups. These starting free cloud storage services are Microsoft’s Azure cloud services, and Google’s Google Inc. cloud service, which has been made available to start-up businesses immediately.
Rounding out the list, Singapore pre-paid customers can now use the start-up’s open source software to move their data from their servers to Google Cloud Storage. The service is free, but can be purchased now from the Start-up app on Google Play.
The company said it has been happy to introduce this service in the first half of the year and was excited to see further adoption.
“One of the many great things about Singapore is the commitment to innovation,” said Peter Khoo, chief executive officer of Rantor, one of the Singapore-based companies that launched the free cloud storage services.
“We’re very pleased we have this platform at our disposal, and ready to take advantage of it in the next few weeks,” Khoo added.
In a short period of time, Singapore will be able to take advantage of most of the cloud storage services offered by Taiwan and Canada.
These included Microsoft Azure, Google’s free cloud storage service, and Microsoft’s CloudScape, which provides local storage. India is another market where Cloudscape is available.
But there’s no mention of Singapore carrying out the free cloud storage system by itself, so as to avoid a failure impact as the cost of cloud storage rises as the cost of regular data usage rises.
The decision to launch the free cloud storage service is being made by Telefone CEO Ravi Drayag, who was seated with Mika Gaudin, CEO of Google.
“We’ve been very pleased to see just how good Google has been over the last several months,” said Drayag, who is a founding director of Telefone. “We’re confident that this is a breakthrough time for the cloud storage service industry and it is the first choice for Singapore. As the global leader, we’re very proud that our company is money well spent and we see this as a strong opportunity in the future.”
Telefone is the world’s second largest wireless device manufacturer and one of the largest in the world, with over 9 million customers worldwide. Chief operating officer said the company had distinguished itself as an early-stage software company and that he was happy to see the free cloud storage be offered in Singapore.
“We’re very proud to have offered Singapore early-stage startups a free service based on services in our field,” said Phu Chul, chief financial officer at Telefone.
“Over the last week we have been happy to see the great efforts of the early stage startups and our efforts are our cause more than a competitor or competitor,” said Drayag.
Loonin, which began operating on the 3G network in June, said it is “very proud” of the success of a Singapore cloud storage provider.
In a presentation to investors at the conference, Loonin said “We would like to thank our Singapore colleagues and our community for their patience and cooperation in the launch of the free cloud storage services and the improved
