Hackers are using tech services companies as a ‘launchpad’ for attacks on customers

The US government has launched an investigation into cyber attacks on US financial institutions.
From 2013 to 2016, more than 700,000 US financial files were stolen from US banks and companies (see also: lost funds, money lost, money compromised), according to the FBI.
The IRS has also recently come under fire over allegations of excessive surveillance for its crackdown on internet service providers, including AT&T and Verizon.
The Obama administration also revealed that more than 1.2bn Americans have been killed in the US since 2001, and more than 8m have been injured in the span.
The alleged offences were sparked by a US government spying program known as Prism, launched in 2011.

Maxime Bernier, the US ambassador to the United Nations, said the findings of the US investigation were’reprehensible and should be denounced by any government that wants to promote the systematic abuse of human rights in the name of protecting human rights.’
