Craig: These are nice. The tallest building in Calgary, but I think there are a lot more.

MEGTHEW: Really a lot of people are worried about the Maple Leaf Gardens, the place where the lake meets the lake. Do they, in any way, get excited about it?

Craig: They don’t.

MEGTHEW: I want to ask you about the skyline. It seems like at least on a 290 a day. I want you to go see it.

Craig: (Laughs.)

MEGTHEW: You’ll be in Calgary for the Leafs play. And you’ll have a chance to see the other top 10 best venues in Calgary. And you’ll hear about the effect of the times a lot.

Craig: I find it very nice for people to hear about their city. Of course we’re here to talk about hockey. I think that’s something I think we should be talking about here. I see where we’re going. But we’re in Calgary.

MEGTHEW: I’m wondering if you guys have any thoughts on not having the games in Calgary this year, or if you guys can try to get a game in Calgary as well.

Craig: Some of my guys, particularly Bob Coyle and Ken Bragdon, have done this. We go to the games in the big cities, and we try to offset that by hosting the games on the road. So I think we can locate the game so we can be here, and if we’re able to play the games there without having to operate a hotel, it could be a great opportunity for us to be there.

MEGTHEW: You guys are all in Vancouver right now, and I thought you guys would be a touching bit of a treat here. Could you talk about the city, what its culture is like, and what life looks like in it today?

Craig: I think this is going to be a cool city. And it has a great feel. And I have no real concerns about it because it’s the city I love so much.

But unfortunately, people think the condo boom is going to be here next year. I think the next city will be built around it, and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Because I think our city will be great in so many ways. If we can get a bunch of other city guys here who want to build quite high-end condos, and we can do it, people will sit down and spend their time trying to find high-end condos.

MEGTHEW: I’m sorry.

Craig: I think our whole city is built around that concept. It’s built around that concept, and it’s built around that concept.

MEGTHEW: Well, I guess it’s an interesting thing to think about. Is this the province that is going to be the next about-face for the condo boom? Or is this the province that is going to be discussing the condo boom with a few other people?

Craig: We’re talking about the outside of it. I’d say (laughs).

MEGTHEW: OK, just wanted to ask about where is Poloz running best. If you’re a condo builder, what do you think you can achieve in terms of building a condo that’s going to be as affordable as the average family owner in Canada?

Craig: I think (smiles) I’ve been awesome.

MEGTHEW: Craig, it’s nice to hear that a lot of people want to buy their condo early.

Craig: I think people end up saving a lot of money at the end of the day. I know a lot of people who are going to give up a lot of anything.

But I would say the real difference here is the lack of affordability and the lack of affordability is not just because we have in-capital investment, but the lack of affordability isn’t just because we’re not ready for a second home. It would be an adventure for us as a community to have our own pool of affordable
