Microsoft makes full-time Windows Phone developers available to partners for free
Microsoft’s transparency initiatives could set into motion Microsoft’s plans to support large number of Windows Phone 8 development projects in its cloud
The latest report released by Microsoft and Microsoft’s Windows Phone competition is entitled The Microsoft Windows Phone Show: Microsoft and the Windows Phone 8.0 revolution.
Following the release of the report earlier this week, Microsoft made full-time Windows Phone developers available to partners for free in a new Microsoft cloud initiative called Project X, which will enable OEMs to build free Office applications for Windows Phone. The Xbox One-based initiative is part of one of the company’s most prominent efforts to bolster its Windows Phone ecosystem.
The report says that Microsoft’s efforts to provide “privacy and open source cloud services” to Windows Phone developers in its cloud system will revolutionize the way companies design and build Windows Phone applications to reach customers in their home country.
The Microsoft cloud initiative is set to bring Microsoft’s future Windows Phone development efforts into the hands of customers in their own countries. While Microsoft says the partnership will enable Microsoft to keep its existing Windows Phone development efforts in partnership with developing countries, other Microsoft rivals, such as Nokia, may not be interested in partnering with the Redmond company’s expanding, Windows Phone-centric cloud platform.
The report says that the partnership will allow Microsoft to keep its existing Windows Phone development projects in partnership with developing countries for the first time since sharing it with companies such as Microsoft.
“This partnership will enable Microsoft to keep its existing Windows Phone development efforts in partnership with developing countries for the first time since sharing one of its core Windows Phone core communities with its partners,” the report says, adding that the partnership with developing partners will enable Microsoft to continue to provide open source software for Windows Phone development in its own countries that find their markets.
Microsoft’s Windows Phone efforts include many platforms designed to work on Windows Phone 8, including FreeOffice, OpenOffice apps, and Office 365.
According to the report, Microsoft has more than 1 million Windows Phone developers in its Windows Phone ecosystem, with 1.2 million developers registered in the U.S. each month.
Companies such as Fink, the Redmond software giant, are also learning their way around the Windows Phone ecosystem technologies.
Fink is working in partnership with Nokia to develop content for Windows Phone 8.0. It started development of its Nokia Lumia 830 in November 2015, with the goal of developing apps for Windows Phone in a year and a half of the program. Fink acquired Nokia’s Nokia Lumia 1020 in June 2016, and has since been working on Windows Phone 8.0 development for the platform.
Fink has been working in partnership with Microsoft’s partners in the Windows Phone Windows Phone ecosystem for more than three years, including a series of talks with Nokia and Microsoft.
When asked if any of the Nokia partners had any plans to integrate their Windows Phone 8.0 apps with the Microsoft Windows Phone development, Fink’s lead developer, Srinivasan Kalluri, said, “Yes, they have already been working on the size and scope of the Windows Phone real estate program since February 2013. Until now, we have not been able to make any test moves.”
Fink has also been working on the generalization of Windows Phone 8.0 in its operating system, with a 3D application that makes use of the new devices for entertainment, research and entertainment, and game development.
