Partnership between International Refugee Assistance Project, Rosetta Stone to aid refugees

Manuel de la Cruz, a member of the NDP, said the government will increase funding for the Red Cross in order to help those fleeing in conflict.

“I think it’s important that we can get to the situation that we are in right now and take a step to help refugees in need, because when you ask people to help refugees, you say, ‘We want you to help us,’ because refugees are often victims of war instead of saving lives.

“We are trying to do both because we want to help people. The reality is that we are in conflict.”

He added, “So we are trying to help refugees in need. We are trying to see if we can get to that country, get the effort we need to start a humanitarian dialogue and help refugees to get on their feet.”

A government spokesperson thanked Daniel Macpherson, President of the Canadian Red Cross and a member of the Canadian Red Cross Movement, for his assistance.

“I can only thank the NDP for their support to the Red Cross since its inception in 1984 and the crucial work ongoing on behalf of refugee home begging, in particular the ICR,” he said.
