I think it’s a good question that you’re going to have to answer. I suddenly became aware of the problem that I have not seen for a long time. I’ve been thinking about it for ages. We have to be really careful about it, and I think there’s something that needs to be done.

NYT: So, there were significant flights on Air America Flight 177 that were canceled but they were canceled because of the high costs and the regulation. And did you think you could charge the airlines for that?

GALLERY:

Well, this is such a big story. People were speculating about it for years, and the U.S. government told us to write this story. So I think there is a very good chance that we would get off to a good start.

NYT: And at the same time, do you feel that there’s a need for a revamp of the airline safety investigation process as a result of those plane accidents and a much better understanding of the causes?

GALLERY:

No, not at all. I think it’s a good question. Because we’ll just have to work out who, what, when and how we’ll bring this up.

NYT: So, you’re recommending the travel agencies to conduct a broader investigation of the problem?

GALLERY:

Yes. I agree with those people. And I think you’ve already seen it happening in the Bahamas, and it’s an important question right now.
