A mother and her younger son are doing the same.

“We have little money. I couldn’t afford this to be your day. It’s been a long time and it’s a long time coming,” said Janelle’s baby son Stacey Wile, 30.

Summoning their mother was an emotional experience because Stacey was a year older than her brother, that is, she had been living with her husband, Daniel.

“They, despite going through all this horrible things, basically they, they love each other. That’s what they’ve all done for each other and for me and for all the people that we love,” she said.

After the wedding, Stacey got into a car accident and died.

The couple lives in the same house but separated in 2010, her daughter said.

“I know she’s blessed to have her family and friends, and I know she’s blessed to be living with her fiance, and that’s been a very good thing,” she said.

Janelle said they miss their two daughters.

“We’ve been through all these things and we’ve never forgotten anything. We’re already so happy that it’s happening. It’s such a great family and it’s so exciting to be alive,” she said.

Today, Stacey and her husband, Daniel Wile, and baby sister Lacey Granger are in the hospital for treatment of acute leukemia, a rare but treatable form of leukemia.

High-profile attendance could mean four or more gatherings of moms and dads on a gathering that is heavily attended by children, especially young ones.

“It is all about detail and it is virtually a return to where we started, and I wanted my sons to have that same critical time,” said Janelle, who has planned for the weekend for a lower-income household.

“I just want them to feel real comfort, and I find that’s what we do best. We try to move with the flow and do what feels right for us.”

Jessika Holm received a $100,000 gift card for her daughter after she passed away, and the couple didn’t plan on putting her on it.

“I think about all the good things she did because of her life and her family,” said Janelle. “Knowing her and seeing her smile for sure, that’s what home is for, this is a home and they’re all so happy and so thankful to be here.”

Holm says the gifts will be donated to the health care organizations that have partnered with Catholic charities.
