Microsoft Azure plugin manager for SAP Cloud Migration is now available to the general public, after more than 6 months of development. Most users already own Windows and SAP own Windows 7 and Windows 8.

This release is the first of a series of blog posts from Microsoft Azure and SAP Cloud migration engineers, which will be published in a very short but good order.

Microsoft Azure has added support for cloud migration to the SLA Cloud Platform. This is the first release of the SLA Cloud Platform to support cloud migration.

As a result of this step, the SLA Cloud Platform is now available to all users.

In addition to an increased turnaround time for storing and upgrading SAP tools and services manually and from a Windows-based source to Windows Azure, Microsoft has now added support for automated migration of SAP solutions and applications.

The following changes have occurred:

SAP Azure reduced its migration time from 10 days to 10 days (from 4-6 months to 3-5 months)

SAP Azure will now automatically the migrate to BDC, Azure Server 1, Azure Server 2, and Azure or Microsoft Azure 1 servers over a maximum of 10,000 cycles (from 7-11,000 cycles).

This is a significant milestone for SAP that makes it a clear step toward rolling out a unified migration platform for SAP and other SAP and enterprise applications.

In addition to a more complete release of the SLA Cloud Platform, Microsoft added new items for the SLA cloud to the existing SAP IT appliances and organization automation and clean up.

Upgrading from the SLA 6.10 version will be done automatically when SAP Infrastructure and SAP IT Enterprise is upgraded to 1.6 or higher.

Microsoft will also provide a summary of the changes to SAP Groups. Please see the “Views” section below for more information on each one.

In addition to the SLA 6.10 release, this release includes updates to Sql Server, SQL Server Express, SQL Server ALSA, and SQL Server RDS.

The “Routing and Data” extension for the SLA Cloud Platform provides SPACE and SEND authentication for SAP matches and other SAP operations.

This update adds support for the SEND API and SEND_APPLICATION_TYPE_TO_ROUTINE patterns to Sql Server and its related Sql Server and its related Sql Server RDS clients, as well as the SEND_APPLICATION_TYPE_TO_ROUTINE patterns which specify Sql Server and SEND_APPLICATION_TYPE_TO_ROUTINE sets of patterns for Sql Server and SEND_APPLICATION_TYPE_TO_ROUTINE-based solutions.

This single release provides all the changes and enhancements to SAP, including the SPACE API, SEND_APPLICATION_TYPE_TREE_PRIMARY_EXECUTIVE_CUSTOM_REGISTRATION that is required for the SQL Server License Agreement and/or the SCCP-ECL license agreement.
