Launched in 2013, Barts is based on the idea that “social media has kept us and our customers engaged, engaged with each other, and engaged in the daily grind of life, work, and life.”

Barts was founded by co-founders and coauthor of the success book, 2:Shorter Lives: How to Keep Your Life a Little Better for Good (which had been published by Roaring Brook Press and was published by Simon and Schuster, respectively). It launched with a Kickstarter in March of 2014, and has successfully proven to be a successful start to the digital advertising campaign that propelled it to a number of major title launches.

The company has grown substantially in its first year, attracting over 600 digital submissions, 1,900 advertisements (and over 1,200 more than the previous year), and having attracted more than 700,000 copies in its first month.

Barts is also the first company to deliver a video ad format, with over a million impressions in the month of February, and first to sell its own digital playlists.

Barts has an average of $92k in revenue in its first quarter, and has developed a successful mobile app app that is available for Android and iOS.

The company is currently planning to continue to develop new business models, including selling online games and games that do not exist in third party stores, and integrating with other types of retail outlets.
