NASA invests in a new solar sail concept that could propel a mission to the Sun
US Army ‘advanced’ vehicle will have more advanced propulsion technology than its competitor’s
In a close call with China, the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) said the US would use its limited resources to develop a new vehicle.
But the State Department said as far as its technology was concerned, it was developing a ‘technology-centered’ approach.
The agency has already built and tested different ‘instrument-centric’ propulsion systems to carry out its mission.
These include advanced propulsion systems, advanced system and engine designs and more.
The new vehicle will enter service in 2020 and will be the first of its kind in the US.
The vehicle will help the US to maintain a manufacturing base in Asia, where it can build ‘economic stability’ for its exports to the US, it added.
The weapon system, developed by DARPA, will be used to fuel its next spacecraft.
As such, the system is a ‘new and innovative public-private partnership’ which will focus on developing and developing technologies to enhance the defence capabilities of US forces.

It is the same technology that we have already used recently to test a military-grade 5.56-kilowatt electric ‘U.S.-3’ rocket.
‘One of the main benefits of the U.S. air force’s air force is the capacity to supply a superior range to our allies,’ said the Pentagon’s new chief technology officer, general Herbert H. Stark. ‘So in this case we have more than we have ever provided before.
‘The U.S. will continue to use its unique air force equipment to ensure that we have a system that will be ready for launch by 2024.’
The US Navy’s new aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, now in service, was already being test-fitted with hand-launched cruise missiles, which makes the USS Nimitz an ideal choice for the US Navy’s new mobile fleet.
Previous test launches of the Nimitz have been with the India-based company VK Talisman unless they were later cancelled.

The air force has said it has no plans to rely on prototypes for future such deployments.
