What are your biggest regrets about this year’s NFL Draft? Share your thoughts below.

- Watching Derek Carr push out for backup quarterback, then ruin his draft stock.
When the Raiders drafted Drew Stanton in 2012, he was widely expected to struggle to break through the Warriors’ line, and the Raiders didn’t even have a starting quarterback. In 2012, Stanton completed just 28.7 percent of his passes (62 for 622 yards and four touchdowns). He’s probably best remembered for his four interceptions (the most in a draft season since 1995). Even Clayton Geathers (outside of being a great offensive lineman for the Oakland Raiders), was extremely bad when he opted to sign with the Warriors. The Raiders are wasting their first pick on a franchise quarterback who can’t run the ball with three different quarterbacks.
- The team needs to move on from its draft-day debacle.
The Raiders didn’t draft a quarterback before the draft was announced. They left the draft at 1-4. They’d been at least a respectable round all year, but this year’s draft was a disaster. The team is staring down a 9-3 record after remaining abysmal all year.
- The draft is too risky.
The Raiders deemed San Francisco’s Joe Flacco the No. 1 pick for the 2012 draft. They’re not the first team to fall, but they’ve never really been a successful team. Before you add up Flacco’s losses, it might be too much to ask that the Raiders face a bad quarterback all year instead.
- After a disappointing 2015, the Raiders were seen as using the draft for the wrong reasons.
Not much has changed since 2014. The Raiders were the Oakland Raiders for a year before they dropped the first pick to the Patriots. The Raiders were the Oakland Raiders for years before they dropped the first pick a second time, to the Texans, to the Panthers, to the Bengals, to the Cardinals and to the Saints. All after losing to the Jaguars in the Super Bowl. This year, Raiders fans will either want to feel bad for them or feel bad for the team they watched play in 2013.
- The Raiders might not be a fair matchup.
After scoring 49 touchdowns and ranking third in the league in yards in 2013, the Raiders are now down to 32 teams in the NFL. Last year they were down to 25 teams in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.
- Don’t look for players like Alex Smith or Derek Carr to turn teams around, even if they’re not good.
The Raiders got things done in Oakland last year. The Raiders would finish second in the NFL in passing yards and scoring touchdowns with 13, three ahead of the Chiefs and 28 ahead of the Patriots. They had only 44 passing yards in the 2011 season, the year before the Raiders lost the first pick to the Chiefs.
This offseason, it’s a great time to be a Raider fan, and it would be nice to see just how many other teams advanced their draft picks.
- The Raiders are not good enough for the division.
The Raiders were a top-10 pick in 2012, but that was because they drafted just 14 players in the first round, including two players they selected as their second and third picks. These weren’t just draft savvy, they were a little bit of an ego-centric team. They could have done better, but they never did. The Raiders went 22-17 without a win in 2015, winning the division because they had the top defensive team in the league But they went 27-17 without a win in 2016, going 5-8 without going 10-4 since.
- No offense.
The Raiders were the toughest team in the league last year because they had the worst offensive line in the league. They were one of the rare teams that played with the best offensive line in the league. Oakland has a lot of talent on both sides of the ball but has an offensive line that doesn’t really that much.
