Three-year-old who suffers from autism has emergency treatment after being ordered to pay £4,000 to NHS trust
A child with a disability showed up at Google’s headquarters in London on Monday morning early to find a company GPS tracker showing a person who “is autistic” in the UK.
The child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said it grew up in a home where a GPS tracker was not available but the company’s “digital emergency buttons” for accessing children’s locations were set up.
The “geo-satellite emergency buttons” are located in the screen rather than in the device’s manual. No results are given on the device’s GPS.
The child said he was “shocked” and “quite deeply worried”.
“It’s a very big one. I don’t know what would happen if it happens,” he said.
“I am very upset that something so big like this could happen and I am very serious about the way we treat people with autism.
“I cannot pay the costs of getting a GPS track to work but I need to get the right human being in there to help me with this.”
The child said he had spoken to Google’s senior executives and he wanted a trial.
